Oh don't you play boy
down at Gunny Hole
many a kin been lost there
to the pull of the waterfall
one hundred feet she drops from the sky
boil that water hole boil
fifty more she'll drop you still
and break your body and free your soul
All those women on the mountain
walk the banks all night long
wail and moan for their little darling
they lost to the waterfall
down their cheeks the salt tears roll
flood the banks and the Gunny roils
the churning of that briny boil
out to see where the Gunny child goes
crying bring my Gunny child home
No more men left in Gunny town
they all shipped out to sea
to search the deep for a finger or toe
spit from the belly of the Gunny Hole
that's why they catch the Sturgeon
the Shark and the Killer Whale
to slit their bellies open wide
and search from gill to tail
looking for the Gunny child
So don't you go boy down to Gunny Town
nothing but spooks and goblins there
of the children that all drowned
Oh don't you play boy down at Gunny Hole
many a kin been lost there
to the pull of the waterfall.
